What are firewalls and how they provide security to our system?
In today's web-dominated world, the Internet is an exhaustive source of information for one and all. People of all ages make use of Internet facilities for varying purposes such as education, banking, entertainment, and business. Now that private and critical data is going on the web, there is a great need for creating and following high standards of Internet security and this is where the FireWall Security comes into the picture. FireWall Security can be described as an online network security system that prevents sensitive and confidential data on the computer disks from getting exposed to malicious or hacking attacks. This firewalls security becomes all that important since hackers try to invade into personal and other data every now and then.
What is a FireWall?
A Firewall is a protective process that protects computers on a network from intentional intrusion that may lead to compromised confidentiality or corruption of data. By segmenting a specific network to varying physical networks, a Firewall limits the damage that could have spread from a subnet to another, intentionally or unintentionally. In addition to that, Firewall security is important for examining all routed traffic, inbound and outbound, between two or more networks after specific criteria are satisfied. Since Firewalls security have the ability to filter packets on the basis of sources, destination addresses, and port numbers, security is not possible of being compromised.
Benefits of FireWall Security
By using an effective online network security system such as the FireWall security, any one connecting to the Internet can protect himself from hacking attempts that can come from the Internet or local network. One of the biggest advantages of FireWall Security is staying at a distance away from viruses, Trojans, malware, and spyware. By facilitating complete monitoring of inbound and outbound web traffic, the Firewall security software also helps users gather information pertaining to security (laptop security, notebook security, computer internet security).
Now that we have read about what are Firewalls, let us move our focus to how they provide security (computer internet security, online network security, laptop security, and notebook Security) to our systems.
In a business environment, FireWall security inhibits employees to send or receive unsolicited emails or attachments and guard against hostile intrusion from the Internet. It is also useful to prevent access of sites that may be harmful for the network besides improving the productive abilities of the employees. The fact that firewall's security is almost impenetrable means that safety is not compromised, at any point of time. However, it is important for all users intending to use or using Firewall security to take care of some important things so that the purpose of online security doesn't get defeated at any time.
I have a Firewall and do not need any more of security?
Some Internet users are of the view that they do not need any additional security if they have a FireWall in place. This is a myth as intrusion dangers can be lethal for computer disc data or critical information when FireWall security is not complemented with additional security measures such as powerful anti-virus that can prevent and eliminate the dangerous Trojans, spyware, malware, viruses, and other attacks. It is important to note here that a FireWall Security program cannot be considered as all-in-one security program in itself.
